“YOU’LL GET THROUGH THIS!”
Each one of us faces situations we feel that there is no escape! Maybe it’s the loss of a loved one, being unemployed, feeling betrayed and unloved. Sometimes it is so bad we feel like we’re in a pit, and we can’t get out. All we seem to do is spend our time looking up for help out!
Joseph from the Old Testament found himself in a similar situation. He was the favorite of his father and even though he was the youngest brother at the time, the rest of his brothers hated him! They got so upset because he was treated differently and better than they were.
This next Sunday, September 15, we will begin a new series called, “You’ll Get Through This!” This series is based on the new Max Lucado book by the same title.
This series is going to follow Joseph and his story and apply his trials and tribulations to our lives. But it also will look at how God got him through what were seemingly impossible situations.
His life offers this lesson: in God’s hands, intended evil becomes ultimate good!
Joseph would be the first to tell you, life in the pit stinks! Yet, for all its rottenness the pit does do something! It forces you to look upward. Someone up there must come down here and give you a hand. God did for Joseph.
And at the right time, in the right way, He will do the same for you!
The sermon titles for this series are:
“You’ll Get Through This!” – 9/15
“Down and Out, But Never Alone!” -9/22
“Stupid Won’t Fix, Stupid!” – 9/29
“Is God Good When Life Isn’t?” – 10/6
“Now, About Those Family Scandals and Scoundrels!” – 10/13
“God Can Use This for Good!” – 10/20
When disaster strikes you, remember to pray to your Almighty God first and then hear these words from Max, and remember them as you wait for God’s guidance: “You’ll get through this. It won’t be painless. It won’t be quick. But God will use this mess for good. In the meantime, don’t be foolish or naïve. But don’t despair either. With God’s help, you will get through this.”
I will be having a study on the sections of the book on Sunday mornings at 8:30 am, Wednesday mornings at 9:00 am, and Thursday evenings at 6:30 pm. beginning on Wednesday morning, September 18 going until the end of October.
May God truly bless us as we not only grow individually, but also as we grow as His faithful community here in this place.
