Meet Pastor James Cleland

Pastor James Cleland serves as the pastor of Shepherd of the Sierra Lutheran Church, bringing a deep passion for sharing the Gospel and nurturing a community grounded in grace. Known for his approachable teaching style, Pastor James loves helping others see how God’s Word connects to everyday life.

Outside of ministry, Pastor James enjoys spending time with his wife, Ryann, and their two children, Maggie and Andy. Together, they love traveling, cooking, and spending time outdoors. An avid fan of Star Wars and all things Lego, Pastor James brings a sense of fun and wonder to everything he does. He believes God is up to something amazing here in the Carson Valley and is excited to walk alongside the community in faith.
